An imaginative, kaleidoscope of contrasting moments that ranged from fragile lyricism to down right anarchy. Driven along by Irvine’s own ensemble the show romps irreverently across a number of musical styles but in a manner that always seems natural and unself-conscious and includes singing bunny rabbits, spies, KGB agents, monsters, arcade rides and a shadow puppet show about a boy with a big nose. Inside two hours it tackles an almost overwhelming set of human characteristics including humour, shame, loss, ambition, disappointment, ineptitude, insecurity and anger. Beautifully coloured by Irvine’s adventurous and sensitive score the lead characters are superbly sung and acted throughout  -an unusual and engaging night of music and theatre.
